How many bauds was your first modem?
What was your first ISP?
@celesteh My first ISP was 'me', in two senses, so I guess you could say that was a co-op. One sense was simply that I worked for a university so I got a second modem and put it on my office phone line and dialed in, eventually running PPP over my connection to my office Unix workstation. The more interesting sense is that at one point I ran a 'public access Unix' on second-hand hardware, taking a Usenet feed (and exchanging email) over UUCP and letting people dial in and so on.
@celesteh I'm pretty certain my first modem was 1200 baud (although maybe it was 2400, it's been a long time ago). I definitely dialed in to 300 baud BBSes though, although on some of them you could edge the baud up a bit so it was less tedious to read posts.
